Welcome to The Hopetoun Practice at Bellevue Medical Centre

                                     

Dr Tolley has now retired from the Practice, and we would like to send him all our best wishes for a long and happy retirement. As you will note, we have now changed our name to The Hopetoun Practice.

Unfortunately, the nationwide shortage of GPs means that we have not yet appointed a new doctor to replace Dr Tolley on a permanent basis. The remaining GPs are working hard to cover his patients, with the help of locum doctors, but unfortunately, these are also extremely difficult to find in the current climate.

This means that we are currently understaffed in terms of medical practitioners, and will remain so until a replacement for Dr Tolley is in place. This, in turn, means that you will have to wait longer than normal for a routine appointment, and we ask you to keep this in mind when dealing with our receptionists, who will do their best to help you.

For those with urgent problems that require medical attention on the day, emergency appointments will always be available every day. In order for those who need our help most to be able to access it promptly, we would ask that you only book an emergency appointment if your problem really cannot wait, or cannot be dealt with by anyone other than your GP.  

We would like to remind patients that coughs, colds and other minor ailments are not medical emergencies, and can usually be managed very well by your local pharmacist with remedies easily obtained over-the-counter. Sick lines are also non-urgent, and absences from work of up to 7 days MUST be covered by a self-certificate obtained from your employer, not your GP.

Dental problems should be dealt with by your own dentist, or the Chalmers Dental Centre if you are not registered with one.

Minor eye problems such as conjunctivitis, styes, hayfever etc can be dealt with by any optician, or in many cases, your pharmacist.

Most muscle or joint aches and pains can, and should be, dealt with by the Physiotherapy Self-Referral Telephone Service, the details of which can be easily found by clicking on the Further Information tab in the menu at the top left of this page.

We regret that, for the above reasons, we are currently unable to accept any new patients onto our list. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We operate from modern, purpose-built premises that house two separate Practices. On entering the building, The Hopetoun Practice is the Reception to the left, whilst Dr Gray & Partners is the Reception to the right.  Please ensure that you come to the correct Reception in order to avoid any confusion!

Disabled access to the Medical Centre is via a ramp from either the small car park on Annandale Street Lane, or alternatively, the footpath on Huntingdon Place.  All areas of the building are at ground-floor level, and there are male and female toilets for the disabled immediately opposite the entrance.  Please note that parking is very limited around the Medical Centre, so we would encourage our non-disabled patients to avoid travelling to the surgery by car if at all possible.

Please use the menu above to navigate around our site, and to find out information about our opening times, surgery times, and things like how to order repeat prescriptions etc. 

Please use the menu to the left to access information about services and organisations outwith the Practice that you may find useful. This contains, amongst other things, self-referral forms for Physiotherapy and Podiatry (also known as Chiropody), where you do not need to see a GP in order to arrange a routine appointment.

Finally, please remember to inform us if you move house, or change your telephone number or email address. You may do this either in person via Reception, or alternatively, use the button below to inform us electronically.  You may also like to update your clinical record, including things like your current smoking status, weight etc, by using the appropriate button below.  All information sent electronically via this website is securely encrypted through SSL technology, and will remain entirely confidential.
